A NEW DAY, A NEW BLOG

If someone had told me a few weeks ago that I would soon be creating a new blog entirely from scratch, I would have told them they were clearly a little mad. And yet, here I am. Welcome to Daring Eileen. It's still a surprise to be here. After my original blog Pouting In Heels was compromised back at the end of May and after several efforts to get it back up and running proved fruitless, I found myself with two choices. To weep for my beloved blog, work lost and call it a day. Or see it as an opportunity to reinvent myself and bounce back with something new. The universe has a funny way of nudging you in the right direction and whilst the easiest option was always to walk away, I couldn't ignore the feelings of excitement that kept bubbling up. Nor the spring in my step that suddenly appeared. And so, I find myself back at square one. A little daunted but fired up and ready to write.

Daring Eileen is a new blog from me, an experienced blogger and I truly hope that you will enjoy it. Admittedly I'm still figuring stuff out when it comes to this new online space, but you can expect similar to what I used to write about previously on Pouting In Heels - women's issues, my own personal experiences and challenges, motherhood, life, wellbeing and of course, a big dose of style too. When I first started blogging back in 2012, I was a relatively young nipper in my early thirties. Now at 44, my life looks very different and I'm firmly seated in the midlife camp. Bewildered as to how this could have happened so soon (!) but very happy and comfortable to be here nethertheless. Now I'm in my mid forties I'd like to think I'm a little wiser and kinder. I've got new insights that I'm looking forward to sharing and am more determined than ever to try and inspire women and help them feel better about themselves. It's always been my goal. Pouting In Heels changed my life so I can only hope Daring Eileen will do the same too.

Oh and as for the name? Well, it was tricky. So many people suggested tweaking Pouting In Heels slightly. I did at one point seriously consider Pouting In Slippers (which is much more me these days!) but let's be honest, it doesn't sound so appealing does it? So I digged and went back to my roots. Eileen is my middle name (my maternal Gran's too) and symbolises so much of what I aspire to be - strong, independent and someone who always bounces back from adversity. It also means bright, spirited and illuminating.

As for the daring, well, let's face it. To survive in this world, particularly as a woman, you need to have courage and lots of it. I dunno, together they just seemed to fit. For me. And I hope for you. Here's to Daring Eileens everywhere. "More power to your elbow!" as my Gran once said. P.S Finally, as I'm going back to zero, I could really do with some heroes.
